Introduction to Performance Management in SMEs
- Explain the purpose and importance of performance management in the SME environment
- Understand the business benefits of effective appraisals and staff feedback
- Identify common performance challenges faced by SMEs and the consequences of not addressing them
Setting Job-Based Goals and Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Define personal and team goals that are aligned with company direction and priorities
- Identify and outline key responsibilities of a job role
- Learn how to write simple and clear KRAs based on job scopes
- Practical exercise: Drafting KRAs for one key position in the participant’s team
Translating Job Activities into SMART KPIs
- Understand the difference between KRAs and KPIs
- Learn the SMART method (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) for KPI creation
- Develop measurable KPIs based on actual job tasks and performance outcomes
- Practical exercise: Create SMART KPIs that align with drafted KRAs
Conducting Performance Conversations with Confidence
- Understand the importance of ongoing feedback and appraisal conversations
- Learn a structured approach for delivering feedback effectively
- Participate in guided role-play sessions to practise handling real-life performance scenarios
- Receive peer and trainer feedback to build confidence in conducting appraisal conversations
Action Planning and Implementation
